With five Grand Slam triumphs and plenty of success at tennis' other leading venues, Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci's doubles résumé stands up in comparison to the very best.
In the Open Era, only four teams - Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver (20), Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva (14), Serena and Venus Williams (13), Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez (eight) - have been more successful at the majors.
But, one title is missing from their collection - the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. The Italians have never managed to emerge from the season-ending showpiece with the silverware. In fact, they have never won a match there, falling in the semifinals in both 2012 and 2013.
"The Finals will be fantastic for us. I think winning the title will be the same as a Grand Slam," Vinci said.
Errani is equally upbeat about the season finale but is not underestimating the challenge - only two other teams in history have won the WTA Finals and all four majors - in front of them.
"It will be unbelievable for sure if we could win, but we know it will be very difficult, so we're all ready to fight and do whatever we can to try to win," Errani added. "We're excited about it, because it's the only big title we have not won."
